MLK Day of Service with CSUCI

January 31, 2020 @ 8:30 am - 1:30 pm

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service is intended to empower individuals, strengthen communities, bridge barriers, create solutions, & move us closer to King’s vision of a “Beloved Community”. This year, we will remember Dr. King’s vision by serving at Food Share in the Senior Nutrition Garden. Tasks will include (but not limited to) harvesting vegetables, planting seeds, weeding with garden tools, installing irrigation, & helping with other garden projects (ex: building garden boxes, putting up meshing). Join us on Friday, January 31st for a great day of service to start the new semester off!

START TIME: Meet the Roadrunner Shuttle and fellow CSUCI students at the Peace Pole (located in Central Mall across from Sierra Hall) no later than 8:30AM. We will return to CSUCI by 1:30pm. Eat a good breakfast, we will provide lunch!

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This event brings together CSUCI students, staff and faculty to serve on a community project by working in the Senior Nutrition Garden at Food Share.

The event is made possible by funding from Instructionally Related Activities and is sponsored by the Center for Community Engagement, Inclusive Student Services & the Multicultural Dream Center and Veterans Affairs Program.
