SUMMARY:SRIRS Club Speaker Series
DESCRIPTION:SRIRS Student Committee Club’s Speaker Series on campus will be held from 5:00-6:00 pm every 1st Wednesday and 3rd Thursday of each month. The goal of this series is to engage the student body with the community of the Channel Islands. Each speaker of the series will be asked to give a 30 minute talk about their work on the islands\, how they got to where they are in their career\, relationship (love affair) with the islands\, and possible ways for students to get more involved on and off island. \n

SUMMARY:River Restoration and Trash Cleanup at Willoughby Preserve
DESCRIPTION:In May\, we need your help chopping\, pulling\, and lopping non-native\, invasive plant species that are wreaking havoc on our native riparian ecosystem at Willoughby Preserve! Additionally\, we will be cleaning up trash across the preserve. Willoughby Preserve has come a long way over the years\, but it’s up to us to keep it trash free and chalk full of native plants. \n\n\nRiver Restoration events are a part of VLT’s ongoing efforts to bring the Ventura River back to its natural state and make it more welcoming to human and wildlife visitors alike. Please wear pants\, long sleeves\, closed-toe shoes\, and don’t forget sunscreen and water. We’ll provide the tools\, you provide the enthusiasm!\n\n\nMeet VLT staff at 9 a.m. next to the Main St. Bridge along the bike path near downtown Ventura (at Main St. & Peking Streets). We will gather next to the Land Trust’s beautiful Ocean Friendly Garden.
