DESCRIPTION:Join Mountains Restoration Trust to help restore native upland and riparian habitats at Headwaters Corner right off of Mulholland Highway. Volunteers will be collecting seed from native plants around the site. They will also participate in weeding invasive plants to restore our native habitat and prevent competition with natives. \nPlease arrive by 8:45am in the parking lot off of Mulholland Highway. The parking lot is a small mulch-covered lot that abuts MRT’s office – a small white house. If possible\, please carpool. Crayfish are a non-native species to California\, and they’re considered invasive because they cause quite a bit of damage to the aquatic ecosystems. They prey on native species\, reduce water quality\, and cause problems with creek bed erosion. We need your help in trapping and removing the crayfish as well as picking up trash along the stream. \nPARKING: You are free to park anywhere within reason. DESCRIPTION:Meet on the beach promenade at the end of California Street. \nFor all beach cleanups\, please wear comfortable clothes\, closed toed shoes and sunscreen. All volunteers are welcome to participate and must sign a liability waiver\, but volunteers under 18 MUST have a parent or guardian present at the beginning of the cleanup to sign a liability waiver before the minor can participate. Pre-registration is NOT required unless your group is larger than 25 people (if it is\, then email beachcleanups@ventura.surfrider.org ) We will provide all supplies\, but volunteers are always welcome to bring their own work gloves\, trash bag/bucket\, and/or reusable water bottle to reduce waste. And there is work that is restorative\, convivial\, dignified and dignifying\, and pleasing.”  -Wendell Berry \nFarming an acre with volunteers is no small feat. Many hands are needed\, and we welcome yours. We invite you to come dig\, weed\, learn\, teach\, ask questions\, take a shift on irrigation\, cook for our Saturday meals\, share ideas\, or donate materials or funding. You can help in whatever way you’d like. Volunteering with us is rewarding because it is tangible—you can watch it grow!—and for the simple satisfaction of working with others on something meaningful. Working in the garden is also a fun way to complete needed community service hours. \n  \n\n\nWork/Play Days\nWednesdays 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. \nSaturdays 9:00 a.m. – 1 p.m. (Lunch provided at 11:00 a.m.) \nFor more information on volunteering\, contact us at 805-616-2326.\n\n  \nIf you’d like to volunteer in the garden\, please bring a sunhat and sturdy shoes. DESCRIPTION:Join the Ventrua Land Trust staff at the Ventura River estuary to help chop\, pull\, and lop non-native\, invasive plant species and/or remove trash and refuse that are wreaking havoc on our native riparian ecosystem! This month we are working at the Willoughby Preserve. \n\n\nRiver Restoration events are a part of VLT’s ongoing efforts to bring the Ventura River back to its natural state and make it more welcoming to human and wildlife visitors alike. Please wear pants\, long sleeves\, closed-toe shoes\, and don’t forget sunscreen and water. We’ll provide the tools\, you provide the enthusiasm!\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet VHC staff in the Patagonia upper parking lot (210 W. Main Street – at Olive and Main Streets in downtown Ventura) at 9 a.m. Look for the sandwich sign indicating where to park. Parking is somewhat limited so please carpool if you can. We will gather together there and then walk as a group to the estuary.
