DESCRIPTION:Come join Mountains Restoration Trust for a morning outside as we work to restore the vegetation in Malibu Creek State Park! \nWe will be planting native trees and grasses\, as well as removing weeds and invasive plants from the area. We will be planting natives like Coast Live Oaks\, Purple Needlegrass\, California Goldenrod and Hummingbird Sage. \nYou can enter the park through the main Malibu Creek State Park entrance\, and park in the lower day use area. There will be signs to guide you in\, and MRT staff to meet you there! Bring hat\, water\, snack\, and sturdy shoes. Gloves and tools will be provided. \nVolunteers under the age of 18 must bring the Parental Consent Form. \nRegistration is free\, but required. SUMMARY:Headwaters Corner Habitat Restoration
DESCRIPTION:Join Mountains Restoration Trust to help restore native upland and riparian habitats at Headwaters Corner right off of Mulholland Highway. Volunteers will be collecting seed from native plants around the site. They will also participate in weeding invasive plants to restore our native habitat and prevent competition with natives. \nPlease arrive by 8:45am in the parking lot off of Mulholland Highway. The parking lot is a small mulch-covered lot that abuts MRT’s office – a small white house. If possible\, please carpool. In the event that the parking lot fills up\, overflow parking will be available at Wild Walnut Park. Please bring a hat\, water\, snack\, and sturdy shoes. Gloves and tools provided. DESCRIPTION:Join Volunteer Ventura and the Ventura Suburban Kiwanis Club at the popular Marina Park to help remove litter and clean up one of our busy local beaches! Please look for the sign in table near the restrooms and sailing center. \nCleaning supplies will be provided but volunteers are encouraged to bring work gloves and a plastic bucket to collect debris. \nAll participants and parents/guardians must sign a waiver. SUMMARY:Crayfish Removal Open House
DESCRIPTION:Come help us remove crayfish from your creeks and streams! Crayfish are a non-native species to California\, and they’re considered invasive because they cause quite a bit of damage to the aquatic ecosystems. They prey on native species\, reduce water quality\, and cause problems with creek bed erosion. We need your help in trapping and removing the crayfish as well as picking up trash along the stream. \nPARKING: You are free to park anywhere within reason. This is near a residential area\, so please be respectful of the folks who live there! \nOur staff will meet volunteers on the Medea Creek Trail\, which starts at the corner of Conifer Street and Parkview Drive. \nVolunteers under the age of 18 must bring the Parental Consent Form with a parent or guardian’s signature if the parent or guardian is not attending. \nRegistration is free\, but required. Registered volunteers will receive an email confirmation with more details.
