DESCRIPTION:Join Santa Monica Mountains Trails Council on December 14th at Will Rogers State Park for Trail Maintenance of Backbone Trail! \nRoutine trail maintenance. The work will involve mostly brushing with the goal to reach the Lone Oak tree. Meet at Will Rogers State Historic Park. We’ll shuttle up to the beginning of the Backbone trail near the trail kiosk. Details to follow later. \nLeader: Anne Russell 310-600-4798\nLink to Map \nBefore You Go \nMost trail work is on Saturdays and we usually start work at 8:30AM. Be punctual. \nSometimes we may hike a mile or two to the work site.  \nWe generally work until 2:30 with some variation (rain\, heat or we run out of work) \nView the Calendar and select a time and place where you would like to work. \nCall the Leader listed for the date you selected to let him/her know you are coming. \nWatch the Training and Safety Video and follow the instructions. \nReview the “Know Before you Go” Page. \nReview the mini “Trail Work Guide”. \nBring water and lunch. \nWear sturdy shoes or boots\, long pants\, work gloves\, hat\, long sleeve shirt and eye protection.

SUMMARY:Big Rock Preserve Tree Planting- Ventura Land Trust
DESCRIPTION:Join Ventura Land Trust on Saturday\, December 14 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. to help plant trees and remove invasive species at the Big Rock Preserve. VLT staff and volunteers as will get down and dirty to prep the soil\, dig holes and create a beautiful arbor of trees that will provide shade\, scenery and solace to people walking\, hiking and enjoying nature at Big Rock Preserve. We will be planting an assortment of native trees and plants\, and removing some of those pesky invasive plants that always seem to pop up when nobody’s looking. \nVLT staff will provide the tools and direction and volunteers will provide the stoke! Don’t miss out on this chance to be a part of the team that will beautify Big Rock! Please make sure to wear long pants\, long sleeves\, sunscreen\, a hat and don’t forget your water bottle! \nBe sure to RSVP!
