SUMMARY:Ormond Beach Habitat Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:CI Audubon Club\, CI Surfrider Club\, and CI Green Generation Club\nOrmond beach is home to the endangered Western Snowy Plover and California Least Tern who need your help to clean up their habitat! Join us for an unusual beach clean up on Ormond beach. We will go into the habitat to pick up trash before breeding season begins again. We have had many birds nesting next to plastic\, cups\, forks\, balloons\, etc and we want to prevent that this year\, so help us clean up this unique beach! Hours can be signed off on for service learning. \nNote: There are only 10 parking spots at Arnold road\, so carpooling is required. Contact Alissa Goldberg or Cassie Rogers to set up carpools/join a carpool. \nRequired: hat\, long pants\, closed toed shoes\, sunscreen\, water\, and gloves (if you have them)

SUMMARY:River Restoration Event at Big Rock Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Join One Tree Planted and the Ventura Land Trust in planting trees within the Big Rock Preserve! \nHelp us in our ongoing post-Thomas Fire restoration at the Big Rock Preserve. \nThe fire killed 85% of the 1\,000 trees that we had planted and invasive species have been persistently trying to fill in the gaps. With the help of our wonderful community volunteers we aim to remove invasive species\, plant native trees and shrubs\, and restore this wildlife habitat. Come join us in this important restoration effort! \n\n\nRiver Restoration events are a part of VLT’s ongoing efforts to bring the Ventura River back to its natural state and make it more welcoming to human and wildlife visitors alike. Please wear pants\, long sleeves\, closed-toe shoes\, and don’t forget sunscreen and water. We’ll provide the tools\, you provide the enthusiasm!\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet VLT staff at 9 a.m. next to the Main St. Bridge along the bike path near downtown Ventura (at Main St. & Peking Streets). We will gather next to the Land Trust’s beautiful informational kiosk. Please wear pants\, long sleeves\, closed-toe shoes\, and don’t forget sunscreen and water!\n\nPlease note: River restoration volunteers should be at least 16 years old. Due to the nature of tools used and bio-hazardous materials occasionally found in the river estuary\, we do not encourage young children to participate in these events.
