SUMMARY:Potrero John Trail Restoration
DESCRIPTION:Come join the LPFA and Ojai Ranger District as we spend a day maintaining the lovely Potrero John Trail in the Sespe Wilderness. \nThe plan is to meet at the Ojai Ranger Station (1190 E Ojai Ave\, Ojai) at 8am and from there carpool up Hwy 33 approx 30 mins to the Potrero John trailhead. We’ll start working from the trailhead focusing on brushing and clearing any fallen trees from across the trail. We’ll stop sometime in the early afternoon either when it gets too hot or it’s time to head home. Return to Ojai and drive home feeling happy that we helped keep one of Ojai’s best trails open for people to enjoy. \nLPFA will provide tools and PPE\, please bring any food/drink you’ll need for the day and wear long pants and sunglasses. DESCRIPTION:Join Santa Monica Mountains Trails Council on October 5th at Point Mugu State Park for Trail Maintenance of Old Boney Trail\, East of Blue Canyon! \n8:30AM We will be clearing brush on the Old Boney Trail from Blue Canyon towards the Fossil Trail. Meet at the end of Wendy Dr. and Potrero Rd. for shuttle.\nLeader: George Sherman 805-490-0381 \nLink to Map \nBefore You Go \nMost trail work is on Saturdays and we usually start work at 8:30AM. SUMMARY:Native Habitat restoration at Yerba Mansa Meadow
DESCRIPTION:Come help restore native habitat in Rancho Sierra Vista Saturday\, October 5th from 9am to noon. \nThe Yerba Mansa Meadow restoration project seeks to restore/enhance approximately 10.8 acres of wetland\, riparian and upland habitat through invasive species removal and revegetation with native plants. This meadow is a good example of an ephemeral wetland that has yerba mansa as a dominant species\, and this is somewhat uncommon. This project aims to restore native habitat\, and to improve habitat for bird roosting and nesting by introducing native plants that provide a variety of food sources. We will also improve the natural appearance of the wetlands.Native species for this project include species known to occur in and around wetland areas (yerba mansa\, mugwort\, spreading rush\, mule fat\, golden current\, deer grass\, giant wild rye) and common coastal sage scrub species (purple sage\, California buckwheat \, California sagebrush\, elderberry). \nWear hiking attire\, bring water/resuable water bottle\, sunscreen\, and a sun hat. \nFor more information\, contact: Felipe Lepe at National Park Service tel. 805-370-2301 \nDirections:\nMain entrance cross street is Via Goleta and Lynn Road\, Newbury Park\, CA\, 91320\nGPS Coordinates for Entrance (Via Goleta & Lynn Road): N 34.1569 W -118.9733\nMain Entrance: Ventura Fwy (101) to Lynn Rd exit.
