SUMMARY:Malibu Creek State Park Restoration
DESCRIPTION:Come join Mountains Restoration Trust for a morning outside as we work to restore the vegetation in Malibu Creek State Park! \nWe will be planting native trees and grasses\, as well as removing weeds and invasive plants from the area. We will be planting natives like Coast Live Oaks\, Purple Needlegrass\, California Goldenrod and Hummingbird Sage. \nYou can enter the park through the main Malibu Creek State Park entrance\, and park in the lower day use area. There will be signs to guide you in\, and MRT staff to meet you there! Bring hat\, water\, snack\, and sturdy shoes. Gloves and tools will be provided. \nVolunteers under the age of 18 must bring the Parental Consent Form. \nRegistration is free\, but required. Registered volunteers will receive an email confirmation with more details.

SUMMARY:Volunteer Audubon Center at Debs Park
DESCRIPTION:Come out and volunteer with the National Audubon Society! Join us in and around our native plant nursery where we propagate plants and maintain habitat restoration sites. Activities include watering\, weeding\, mulching\, berm building and repair\,  seed collection\, processing and sowing\, potting\, and planting. Learn about native plants and local bird species as you restore important native habitat within more than 17 acres around the center. Put your hands in some soil and bird while you build habitat! We need you\, but more importantly\, our neighBIRDS need you! \nBe sure to bring lots of water\, sun protection\, and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty! Remember to wear closed-toe shoes and dress in layers. SUMMARY:River Restoration Event
DESCRIPTION:Join VLT staff at the Ventura River estuary to help chop\, pull\, and lop non-native\, invasive plant species and/or remove trash and refuse that are wreaking havoc on our native riparian ecosystem! In May\, we will be working at the Willoughby Preserve. \n\n\nRiver Restoration events are a part of VLT’s ongoing efforts to bring the Ventura River back to its natural state and make it more welcoming to human and wildlife visitors alike. Please wear pants\, long sleeves\, closed-toe shoes\, and don’t forget sunscreen and water. We’ll provide the tools\, you provide the enthusiasm!\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet VLT staff at 9 a.m. next to the Main St. Bridge along the bike path near downtown Ventura (at Main St. & Peking Streets). We will gather next to the Land Trust’s beautiful informational kiosk. Please wear pants\, long sleeves\, closed-toe shoes\, and don’t forget sunscreen and water!\n\n\n\nPlease note: River cleanup volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Due to the nature of tools used and bio-hazardous materials occasionally found in the river estuary\, we do not encourage young children to participate in these events.
