SUMMARY:Malibu Creek State Park Restoration
DESCRIPTION:Come join Mountains Restoration Trust for a morning outside as we work to restore the vegetation in Malibu Creek State Park! \nWe will be planting native trees and grasses\, as well as removing weeds and invasive plants from the area. We will be planting natives like Coast Live Oaks\, Purple Needlegrass\, California Goldenrod and Hummingbird Sage. \nYou can enter the park through the main Malibu Creek State Park entrance\, and park in the lower day use area. There will be signs to guide you in\, and MRT staff to meet you there! Bring hat\, water\, snack\, and sturdy shoes. Gloves and tools will be provided. \nVolunteers under the age of 18 must bring the Parental Consent Form. \nRegistration is free\, but required. Registered volunteers will receive an email confirmation with more details.

DESCRIPTION:“There is work that is isolating\, harsh\, destructive\, specialized or trivialized into meaninglessness. And there is work that is restorative\, convivial\, dignified and dignifying\, and pleasing.”  -Wendell Berry \nFarming an acre with volunteers is no small feat. Many hands are needed\, and we welcome yours. We invite you to come dig\, weed\, learn\, teach\, ask questions\, take a shift on irrigation\, cook for our Saturday meals\, share ideas\, or donate materials or funding. You can help in whatever way you’d like. Volunteering with us is rewarding because it is tangible—you can watch it grow!—and for the simple satisfaction of working with others on something meaningful. Working in the garden is also a fun way to complete needed community service hours. \n  \n\n\nWork/Play Days\nWednesdays 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. \nSaturdays 9:00 a.m. – 1 p.m. (Lunch provided at 11:00 a.m.) \nFor more information on volunteering\, contact us at 805-616-2326.\n\n  \nIf you’d like to volunteer in the garden\, please bring a sunhat and sturdy shoes. SUMMARY:Earth Day Hike
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, April 20th\, all are invited to join the Ventura Land Trust to help prepare the property for future public use. Harmon Canyon suffered significant fire damage and invasive grasses and forbes are trying to out compete the native species for the prime real-estate. \nVentura Land Trust is currently in the escrow for this fantastic preserve\, this process could take over a year before we can purchase the property. In the meantime\, there is plenty of work to be done! We will be working on clearing brush to reduce fire hazards and building trails for the public to enjoy once we have our grand opening. \nAll volunteers should wear pants\, long sleeves\, closed-toe shoes\, and don’t forget sunscreen and a water bottle! We will have water for refills available. We provide the tools; you provide the enthusiasm! \n  \nThis property is currently CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC except for special volunteer restoration events.
