SUMMARY:Invasive Crayfish Removal
DESCRIPTION:Come help us remove crayfish from Medea Creek! Crayfish are a non-native species to California\, and they’re considered invasive because they cause quite a bit of damage to the aquatic ecosystems. They prey on native species\, reduce water quality\, and cause problems with creek bed erosion. We need your help in trapping and removing the crayfish as well as picking up trash along the stream. \nRegistration is free but required. Registered volunteers will receive an email confirmation with more details. \nThis event is great fun for volunteers of all ages! Volunteers 12 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult. SUMMARY:Potrero Creek Restoration
DESCRIPTION:Come join Mountains Restoration Trust as we work with the National Park Service to restore native habitat in Newbury Park. You’ll be helping to maintain the land by removing invasive plants\, mulching\, and watering. We are working to return this critical habitat back to the oak woodland it once was after years of ranching and farming. The natives you will be maintaining include Coast Live Oak\, Valley Oak\, Western Sycamore\, and supporting vegetation in a riparian flood plain\, alongside Potrero Creek. \nAll Volunteers will need to bring the Volunteer Service Agreement signed and ready to go! \nThis event is great for all ages! DESCRIPTION:This workday will focus on campground repairs while the campgrounds are closed to the public. Free camping is available Friday & Saturday nights for registered volunteers. This program was created in response to the unprecedented budget cuts that California State Parks face right now. In partnership with California State Parks\, Park Champions provide consistent\, sustainable volunteer support in the areas of park maintenance and beautification. \nPark Champions projects improve the quality\, safety and preservation of our state parks. Projects in the past year have included trail repair\, invasive plant removal\, habitat restoration\, the rehabilitation of a historic orchard\, fence construction\, bridge construction\, and re-painting park structures.
